Description
These puff pastry cinnamon twists are a delicious dessert or snack. Ready in under 30 minutes!
Ingredients
- 2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
- 1 Tablespoon butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 Tablespoon sugar
Instructions
- Place one sheet of thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Use a rolling pin to roll out the sheet to a 12 x 12 inch rectangle
- Mix cinnamon and sugar together in a small bowl.
- Brush the entire puff pastry sheet with 1/2 of the melted butter.
- Sprinkle 1/2 of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the dough.
- Cut the dough into strips 1/2 - 3/4 inch thick. We used a pizza cutter wheel and a ruler to cut our dough.
- Twist one strip at a time and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a reusable baking mat.
- Repeat with the remaining puff pastry.
- Bake at 400°F for 15-20 minutes until pastry is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool.
Notes
To Twist or Not To Twist? These are equally delicious baked flat instead of twisted. Just cut and place on a lined baking sheet.
Cinnamon and Sugar. Adjust the amount of cinnamon and sugar based on what you like. We like cinnamon and find this amount is perfect for that nice cinnamon flavor when the pastry is baked.
These puff pastry straws are best eaten the day they are baked. You can store them in an airtight container on the counter for 1-2 days but they tend to dry out over time. They can be served warm or at room temperature.
